Europe Day, also known as the Schuman Day, is celebrated annually on May 9th to commemorate the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. This declaration was a historic speech given by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 9th, 1950, which proposed the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community. The aim was to establish a united Europe and prevent another war from happening by integrating the economic interests of European countries.
Since then, the European Union has expanded and grown to become a symbol of unity, peace, and cooperation among its member states.
